Squid Game Season 3 Release Date Revealed: Netflix Unveils First Look

Netflix has set a release date for the much anticipated third season of Squid Game.

The Korean-language drama, which was announced during the streaming service's main slate presentation, Next on Netflix, will return on June 27. Following the release of season two on December 26, Netflix's most popular series, Squid Game, will return for its last chapter. The series has the largest single-week viewing count of any streaming title in the United States in 2024, with 4.92 billion minutes of viewing from December 23 to December 29.

Returning from the cliffhanger of season two, the final season follows "Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) after losing his best friend in the game and being driven to utter despair by The Front Man (Lee Byung-hun), who was hiding his true identity to infiltrate the game." Gi-hun persevere in his desire to terminate the game, while the Front Man moves on to his next move, and the remaining players' choices have graver repercussions with each round." The season's unsettling, freshly revealed poster cautions fans to "prepare for the final game."

The streamer also points to clues in the key art (below): "Gone is the rainbow-hued track of season two's six-legged pentathlon; in its place, a bright swirling flower-pattern floor ominously foreshadows the upcoming ruthless conclusion. The menacing shadows of Young-hee and her partner Cheol-su, initially hinted at in last season's post-credit scene, indicate that much more terrible games await."

Writer and director Hwang Dong-hyuk, who returns for the final season, previously stated that he planned a three-season arc, although he is open to future spinoffs. "When we were doing season one, I was saying there was never going to be another season," Hwang told The Hollywood Reporter as season two premiered. "So, if the time comes and I come up with a character or a fresh tale, maybe there will be a comeback. But I'm thinking more about a spinoff."

Netflix has shared a number of first-look images ahead of the June release. Take a look at the freshly released pictures below.
