‎Jason Momoa, Andrew Koji, Noah Centineo and Roman Reigns in Talks for Street Fighter Movie at Legendary

‎Hollywood’s obsession with video game adaptations continues to surge as Street Fighter, one of the most iconic fighting game franchises in history, prepares for a major cinematic revival. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jason Momoa (Aquaman), Andrew Koji (Warrior), Noah Centineo (Black Adam), and WWE superstar Roman Reigns are in early talks to star in the upcoming Street Fighter movie from Legendary Entertainment.

‎The film, which will be co-developed and co-produced by Legendary in close collaboration with Capcom, marks a fresh attempt to bring the globally beloved Street Fighter franchise to the big screen. Kitao Sakurai, known for his work on The Eric Andre Show, has been tapped to direct. While no official casting has been confirmed, Momoa, Koji, Centineo, and Reigns are reportedly circling leading roles, adding significant star power and physical prowess to the potential ensemble.
‎Originally launched in arcades in 1987, Street Fighter achieved landmark status with the release of Street Fighter II in 1991, introducing a groundbreaking roster of characters and competitive fighting mechanics. The franchise’s enduring popularity was reaffirmed with the release of Street Fighter 6 in 2023, which won “Best Fighting Game” at the 2023 Game Awards.
‎This adaptation follows several previous Street Fighter film iterations. The 1994 cult classic starred Jean-Claude Van Damme as Guile and Raúl Juliá as M. Bison, while Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li debuted in 2009 under 20th Century Fox. More recently, an incarnation involving Talk to Me directors Danny and Michael Philippou was explored but did not move forward.
‎The renewed interest in Street Fighter comes amid a broader Hollywood trend of successful video game-to-film adaptations. From The Super Mario Bros. Movie to the Sonic the Hedgehog series and the upcoming Minecraft film from Warner Bros. and Legendary, studios are increasingly turning to nostalgic gaming IP to fuel blockbuster success.
‎With Capcom fully engaged and Legendary’s production weight behind it, this new Street Fighter movie aims to deliver a faithful and action-packed tribute to one of gaming’s most influential franchises.
